My special order M&P is "back in order"
I have posted here about this gun back when I first recieved it and again when the letter came in. It is a semi taget .38 spcl. ordered with a regular M&P frame but the front sight was slotted for a call gold bead and at a .91 cent upcharge had pre war magna stocks put on it at S&W. Well of course I got it without the pre war magna grips. So January 1st is my birthday and I happen to come across some beautiful pre war magnas and bought them as a birthday gift to myself at $500. That is what I paid for the entire gun. I was nervous as to the grips condition and fit until I got them and put them on and they fit the gun perfectly. They have no numbers stamped on inside right grip and the left one has nice sharp checkering, right one is nice but the points are not as sharp. So here are pictures of the gun complete in original configuration and what the letter states about the gun.

That is an interesting and great looking M+P, made even better with the return of the Magnas. I like it!

Have you checked with the SW Historical Foundation yet to see if there is any more information to be found on yours?

A very interesting gun put back right by your grip purchase.
It is pretty common to see the 22/40s with magnas without any numbers on the back.
I am curious if earlier 1938 ODs and MPs shipped with magnas also had many instances of missing serial numbers.

Nice.
Yes, prices for original wood is shocking. Try buying old Colt stocks.

$1K invested in a documented special order S&W isn't out of range to me. Because they were made for only a few years the pre war Magna's, especially K frame, are going to be pricey. The OP did very well in my opinion.
