Non-relieved Coke Bottle Stocks
The question was asked in another thread if there are non-relieved coke bottle stocks. The answer is yes, but only two or three pairs have surfaced over the years. I bought the pair shown below at the S&WCA annual meeting in Portland, OR in 1999. I believe the stocks simply missed a step in the manufacturing process thereby creating an instant "collectible".

The sad thing is people like me could be holding a pair and have no idea what we had in out hands.
I'm glad that it was you who ended up with them.
Which one of your guns wear them??

Thanks Bill. I was part of that conversation in another thread. I should have known better to say” never” with S&W.

One of the other sets in the upper right corner. Picked up on this forum and had been playing around with new shoes for the two tone gun

Doc44, correct me if I’m wrong but wouldn’t these grips been more likely on on a model 26 or 25?

I often wonder about some of the earlier guns I had when I was in the trade it for something else mode.

I'm sure some folks traded off some really nice ones and never knew they did.
I haven't been into this long enough to have done that but still wonder how much I might miss down the road.

Here's a cry in your beer story. I get back into shooting after pretty much retiring. I want a S&W 45 colt. Find out about Gunbroker. Prices to me are nuts. Then I find what is advertised as a 25-2 in 45 acp. Poor pictures and rubber grips. I get it cheap like $550 or something. It shows up and I fit it with a 45 colt cylinder, Trim the barrel extension to get the longer cylinder in, trim back frame lug, because it is longer to the rear to. Shoots great. Nice gun. I find this sight and really start to learn.
LOL, it was a really nice, original, 5 screw model of 1955, not a 25-2. Oh well. live and learn.
