Thanks this is the second one I've purchased in the last couple of months.
I haven't gotten the first one lettered yet and it's a much earlier model with a gold bead, just a little over 100 of the first run from Jan 1931.
My range time with the 1931 OD was a little different. I have other K-22s but the are all pre 17s and 18s and they have ribbed and heavier barrels. The OD was lighter in my hand and just felt different to me.

The pre war K-22 is interesting as several things changed from 1931 to 1940.
When you have the newer one in hand you will notice the rear site unit has a height adjustment set screw that your earlier one does not.
Imo its those little things that make them so much fun to shoot, collect and compare.

Correct the OD I'll call it 3rd model and by far the most uncommon has a sight like the post war K-22s.
The first model I have now is the single screw type and I suspect the one I just bought will be the 2 screw type but the 1st and 2nd models have very small adjustment screws and are tricky to adjust with the push-pull screw system.

There are a few differences if you really want to start looking.

The ones below have four different hammers, three different rear sights, three different style patridges and both the large and small trademark stamp.

There are still three or so others I would like to find.

As soon as I find one I look for targets that look different from each other.

Welllll…..the hammers and sights aren't what caught my eye in the photo you posted, it's those drop dead gorgeous stocks.

On the ODs the first 500 were made of gold and the remainder were made of stainless steel.

My OD with the humpback hammer (1939) has just a plain sight.

I wonder if no disc became standard in later years or if it was ordered that way? Hmmm might be worth a thread to find out.

Is yours is a 3rd model, if so it may not have a bead. That would be the model with the rear sight more like the post war K-22s.

It's an OD, All of them are a first model. The ones shipped with humpback hammers are roughly 1938-40.

AT 1940 The Masterpiece started the second;
My second has the silver disc. but not my HBH first.

I probably should rephrase the model thing and call them variations.
Mainly of the rear sight, single screw, double Etc. I'm at a loss as to why you have one with no bead however. Is it possible someone changed the front sight?

I guess its possible but why go through that when you could just smoke out the front sight. Or marker it black.

My 38/44 OD with humpback hammer also is a solid black patridge.
