Default 38 M and P, and an old Heiser. A match made in Heaven.

Some firsts today. This vintage 1953 model 38 Military & Police was shot for the first time (outside of the factory). It also was paired up with this beautiful carved HH Heiser for the first time. What a day!

The 38 shot as expected - a lot better than me. Our weather was very cold and windy today so not a lot of time, just wanted to run some lead. After we cleaned everybody up it was too handsome not to take a few pics.

My son lives in Kalamazoo. Obviously I better start checking the gun shops around him. Nice catch.

[QUOTE=KalamazooKid; The 38 shot as expected - a lot better than me. [/QUOTE]

I see this statement with some regularity. How does one know the handgun will shoot better than the owner? Just curious.

A great gun and holster by the way.

I can tell on those shots where everything feels perfect - your hold, trigger pull, etc, and the shot is dead center 10 ring. And on other shots, not so much.

The gun is good. When matched with the leather Heiser, it is GREAT!! Love me some floral carved holsters.

Because the human hand is not a Ransom rest. Any experienced shooter can tell you that.

The gun is gorgeous!
...however, the holster looks familiar.
I think my dad has one for his .22.
Are Heiser holsters collectible?

Great combination-they look great together.
So how many rounds did you shoot? Does it have a turn line now?

I shot 4 cylinders, just enough to warm it up a bit. I have a routine with some of these beautiful guns, shoot with moderation (a few cylinders at a time), clean well, admire, repeat ..... at least on a monthly basis. I've stated many times before that these old revolvers get better with age!

And yes, it's got a tiny bit of a turn line - but to me, it's best that way!

Thanks for the info-I always wondered how quickly the turn line showed. I bought a beautiful nickel model 19, already had a light turn line. I shot 5 cylinders .38 specials in one session, cleaned it, and it has been sitting idle since. I did dry fire it with snap caps a bit to compare the action to my refurbished model 66 shooter. That one looks and shoots great now, and I don't worry at all about shooting it a bit.
Enjoy your M&P !!!

Default Beautiful M&P and holster

This thread caught my eye. One week before the initial posting I came across this .38 Special Hand Ejector M&P at a local gun show. While not in the same league as the like new M&P in the initial posting, I was attracted by the deep bluing and lanyard ring on this 75 year old gun (Serial #941XXX). With the later serial number, bright blue finish and no military markings I was surprised to see a lanyard ring. Was it common for there to be a lanyard ring on what appears to be a commercial firearm?

I don't know about the lanyard ring but that's one beautiful revolver! Enjoy it!
