Cheap 1956 vintage 357
Got this in a trade for a rifle I was into for $75. It came with the original numbered magna stocks, so I bought a nice period pair of targets for $175. May just shoot this puppy someday. Big Larry

Boy did you get burned! Just kidding. Don’t you love trading upward like that? I have stuff I could never normally afford but traded or sold my way up to it. At first I didn’t think those were diamond grips you put on it until I looked closer. Excellent.

Saying you did extremely well would be a gross understatement. That’s a very nice pre-27 OP

Birth year gun for me, and my birthday is in May. Do you want my FFL's address now, or should I wait until closer to the big day?

You ahve got to be KIDDING me? A pristine Pre-27 that you now have $75 into? Was it some rare rifle you bought 50 years ago for $75 that is worth $1200 today or something?

Sounds to me like you made a great deal...on the rifle. Paid $75 for a rifle worth a 357 Magnum?

I like it.
I recently sold my 1955 3.5" and my 1957 4".
Now I am pre-27less.

Traded a so so post war M94 30-30 for it. I was into the carbine for $75. Had a few others so I made the trade. Still have many M94's, but a few more S&W's. Thanks all for the nice comments, but my true love 357 is my 6" 1967 vintage Python. Big Larry

"'May' just shoot it"? Sounds like you made a poor investment.
Several years ago I bought a mismarked pre 27 for $295. (I think the tag should have said $1295 - they sold it to me anyway, after I protested)
It was unfired. Not now! I have shot the **** out of it. Other than a slight turn line it still looks new.
Now I got my money's worth.
