Curious what year did Smith start making the k-22 with 8 3/8 inch barrels?
Any idea how many were made before it turned in to the k17?

I'd be interested to know for sure as well. I've never seen any factory guns before the 17-3 revision, so my guess is early to mid 1970s, which would mean no pre-17s at all.

The standard reference states this barrel length was first available in 1958 in the early model 17 stamped guns. Someone here has one of these but in my observations they are uncommon before the -3.
