Bought a 38/44 on GB came with a surprise
I bought this pre war 38/44 on gun broker not long ago, the older man told me that it came with two boxes. The gun was in a holster for some time and it did not help any. I payed $500.00 for it but what got me going was the blue box that came with it. I asked the man if he had any other Smith an he told me no darn. I see one like mine sold on GB last week for around $565.00 and it had a lot of issues. This is my first try attaching pics so I hope it works. Jay.

That blue box is probably worth at least half, and maybe closer to what you gave for everything...

Congratulations!
Let’s us know if you would like some load suggestions for your 38-44. I suggest a good 158 gr LSWC 38 Spl +P load with Alliant Power Pistol in accordance with Speer reloading data.

The Registered Magnum box may be worth more than you paid for the gun. The magna stocks on the gun are worth what you paid for it. Too bad about the gun being stored in a holster, actual wear looks very light.

I've bought some guns just for the accessories and yours are worth way more then you paid for the 38/44.

Correct me if I am wrong but $500 would be a good price for a fixed sight 38/44 but a great price for a Target sighted model even with minor finish issues . Congratulations . Have the chambers been opened for magnums ?

Congrats!
The box is worth at least $500 and the grips are worth nearly as much.
I'd say you made out like a bandit.

Jay,
You done real good!. With your good fortune, I'd put a few dollars in that blue box, shake it up, and see if it turns into several hundred more bucks.
Oh yeah...Nice 38/44 too.
Here is picture of Blue Box sold on Ebay 2/23 for $705. Also link to auction, if interested.

I will just add it to the pile
The chambers have not been opened up, stocks are numbered to the gun. The action is tight and it shoots well. But it is the worst looking Smith I have so not sure what I will do with the gun as I am vary picky. Jay.
