Lucked up on an early model 36 nickel
I bought this little jewel off of a friend today on a whim. It is in really nice shape. It is a 36 no- for sure. Has round butt and its grips are serialized to the gun exactly. Flat latch and pinned barrel. Has a N stamp under the ejector on the cylinder. The grips are beautiful for the age.
Serial is 28367X. I'd like to know its manufacture date and its rarity and approximate value for my knowledge. Thanks in advance folks.

It is welll worth $350. Probably worth $500 maybe a bit more. That is one nice specimen if it has been fired it surely hasn't been fired much.

Dates are sketchy for that time frame, but I would guess around 1960-61. Hopefully someone with more info will be along soon.
As to value, I think in the $700 range. Nice find!

Certainly one of the best examples I've seen in awhile, in today's market, you could probably put a 1 in front of that price.

It is amazing what some of the vintage S&W guns sell for in today's market. Nice to see that people appreciate how great and timeless these fine guns are. I would take a Smith over most others anyday.

It's impossible to tell when it was manufactured. All one can tell is when it was shipped.Without the complete serial number all you'll get is a guess, and that could be 5 or 6 years off.

Before anyone jumps in with "it's value is what you paid for it", I would guess in the $550 range.
As Don stated, the ship (sales) and manufacturing date can be far apart, but a good guess on the latter would be 1962-'63. Enjoy!

I’m not as well-studied as many, here. So, I’ll not venture a guess on value.
I will say, however, that deals are out there if one is patient. That’s been my experience for years.

Early '60s ship date, I'd guess, and I'd say $500-$750 would still be reasonable.

Very wonderful looking model 36. Like was said in Mooresville area a model 36 with blue wear is over $500. it is a 3inch maybe that plays into the price.

You did great, congratulations.
I have to agree with Murphydog about the value of this fine nickle Mod 36.
If you tried to sell it here at $700 or 1K it will sit forever. With good reason.
I don't think you could sell it on Gunbroker for those prices, either, unless you got very lucky.
