OK, here's one of mine. King Country Sheriff's office, Washington (Seattle LEO). Shipped March of 1935. Front sight has been modified a bit. Shown with King Country Deputy badge and period Peerless (S&W made) bracelets.

Default Mine dates to 1930

Here is mine. Issued to Township of Tonawanda Police in 1930. Nickel with 5”. Serial number makes it around the first 400 built. No flaking or deep pitting just some normal wear. Finish I rate around 90%. The bore is perfect no rust sharp rifling.

Say kids! What time is it? It's Heavy Duty time!

Guessing this 4-inch nickel dates to 1955 or so. Another one that I need to letter.

My 1954 HD with recently made elk stag grips. It has a very nice factory re-blue from 1972.

Any one have a HD bored to 357? I wonder how safe they are?

I know it happened a lot a while back. I'm guessing as safe as a Model 13.

Probably as safe as a Model 520. Or a Model 28.

So far, I have only one gun attributed to law enforcement. A 1940 shipped 6" M&P. One gun shipment to the Sacramento PD. I thought that most departments bought lots of these at a time. No markings on the M&P and it appears to have never been used.
Nice collection and post. Thanks. Big Larry

Nice Smith revolvers. The HD we bought a few years ago went to Wolf and Klarr, that is one of the few we have had lettered.

Our example.

When we bought it it had non issue magna grips but Altamont bonded ivory just seems to be a fine fit for it.

Really good stuff... so here's another: One of the original 44 Colorado Highway (Courtesy) Patrol 1935 issued guns--actually shipped to a Pueblo hardware store since the governor wouldn't allow the officers to be armed. Hence, the name "Courtesy" as part of the original designation. The flashlingt is ca. 1028.

Just a guess here as to make and model, headlights went into fenders in '37 for Ford, their appear to be V8 hubcaps...so I'm guessing 1937 Ford 2-door sedan. The lower part of the grill is painted black.

I hate to follow a beautiful nickel gun from 1952 Austin PD, but this 1954 Kansas Highway Patrol HD is the only one I own.

Top revolver shipped July 1934 with
correct numbers matching stocks.
Bottom revolver shipped December 1954 wearing magnas of Dall Sheep horn, the numbered factory magnas are safely tucked away. They are both wonderful shooters.

Here's the one I have. Shipped to Belknap Hardware in Kansas City, MO in 1931. Three were sent there and believe it or not, I have actually seen one of the others that was shipped to Belknap! I wonder were the third one is. Sorry for the dark picture.

This one has a modified front site that looks like it's a piece of ivory. Pretty well done and it shots great!

Since we are all socially distant, I’ll throw out a couple more “pretty” guns. Here’s a blue 19-3 and a nickel 19-5 wearing English Walnut and Quilted Maple Culina Grips respectively. Keep this thread going, we need something to look at besides coronarama.....

Only have one HD - and it's no museum piece, a 4".
S/N puts it at c.1954.
Had all the routine wear of a LE gun, but don't have any provenance.
Great shooter.

Some very nice vintage Smiths here. I've always liked these big frame 38/44 H/Es. Below, my contributions. All "S" Prefix serials. Two Trasition & One Fourth Mdl; from 1946 to '55.
Best & please take care of yourselves/families in this crisis!
God Bless
John
