S&W Model 14-2, with 4" barrel ?
Has anybody ever seen, a model 14-2, blue, with a 4" barrel. If so. How rare, are they, and what are they worth,in great condition?

What Bob posted/asked.
I have one of the Dayton models. I did not think that the round, heavy barrel similar to the 10-6 would make a difference. It does, though. It is the most accurate (for me) revolver I have shot.
Purchase it and I assure you, you will not regret it.

Photos would help here. It was common to cut 6” barrels down to 4” with this model for LE use.

Make sure the barrel is not cut as murphydog said. If the crown looks legit or the owner has a letter verifying the configuration, buy it unless the price is completely out of line.
I bought a 5” 14 a while back just on a whim, and a lot of enabling from members here. I still have not been able to get it out and shoot it, but it is a very nice gun and the next time I venture to the indoor range it will go with me for certain.

4" Model 14s are kinda scarce, but not unheard of. I have a 4" Model 14-3. Factory letter says this gun was shipped July 15, 1971 to Dave's House of Guns, Dallas, TX. Letter also confirms that this gun did indeed leave the factory with a 4" barrel.
Indications are that this was part of approximately 100 guns shipped to three big wholesale distributors in July, 1971. Olympic Wholesale, Los Angeles, Daves House of Guns, Dallas and Gil Hebbard, IL. Its thought the they were a market test for this configuration.
As to any extra value, probably not a whole lot. It depends on how bad a buyer wants it.
