Perfect revolver, just enough slight wear that you don't worry about shooting it. Have fun.

I am not sure I would carry that concealed. It is in far too nice of shape. The odds are if you are ever involved in a shooting you may not get it back and if you do it won't be in nearly as nice of a condition.
If CC means credit card or something else please disregard.

Looks like the -3 I just got for the same purpose, but yours has way more cool factor. Mine was unfired post factory test, but is not now. I'm looking for a lined holster just to be nice to the bluing.

Before carrying this piece for self defense, you may want to consider over penetration. Here in Denver a few years ago, an illegal immigrant was going to shoot at a street light in a creek bottom with a .44 mag. He missed the light, the bullet traveled across the valley, hit a house about a quarter of a mile away, penetrated the exterior wall of the house, killed a woman inside, and also killed her niece. A .44 magnum is very powerful and may not be the ideal caliber for C.C.

I'm aware, it's for "special purposes" where that shouldn't be an issue. In your scenario, a .357 could have done the same thing. That's a risk with any CC.

And, one could always shoot Specials.

Nice gun. The first S&W I ever bought myself was a used 4" 5 Screw Pre 29.
That was about 54 years ago. It cost me a huge amount of money. $90+ 3% tax to be exact. It left me broke.

Thanks!
Oldest son carries a -3, good choice!
One of the reasons I went with the Lobo, smooth liner is an option.

Little more info- shipped Feb. 1958, so she's a late one.

I hope to make a find like that one day. I have yet to run across one of those old M-29's in this neck of the woods...I'm keeping my eyes open.

As long as we're having a run of 44 mag posts, how about a range report? :

Put 200 rounds through her in one sitting today-all magnums. Mostly Previ Partivan 240grn. JHP's and about 40 Underwood LFN's. The PP are easier on the hand than the Underwoods- less "snap".
Gotta love the action- IMO the smoothest of the modern Smiths. It's like throwing darts.

The Cokes make a big difference too. No cuts, scrapes or blisters. about a pleasant as shooting a hand cannon can be. I don't know why S&W stopped using them in favor of the squared off target stocks.

Edit: Before you ask, yes , my right hand is a little "buzzy".

This thread should be titled
4 x 4 x 44

Very nice find. I sure would find something else to carry. If it does wind up in an evidence room, the likelyhood of ever getting it back is about ZERO.

I'll bet they don't race them or otherwise put them in harm's way.

If it's a good shoot, the carrier's guns never sees an evidence locker.

Well, the guy I know with the 63 Vette has been known to race it very occasionally- about as often as I'm carrying this.
