Welcome to the Forum.

Is the rear sight a flat top with a square notch or a round top with a dimple? The 1937 revolvers had the square notch.

It would be best to start your own thread, as new topics get lost at the bottom of an old thread. Please include pictures.

208045 is almost certainly a Flat Top that was part of the original order in 1937/38.

Here are some notes on Brazilian Contract Serial Numbers:
First Group, 1938+, 25,000 units, serial number range
181,983 to 207,043
Second Group, 1946, 12,000 units, serial number ranges
166,000 to 175,150
207,196 to 209,878

Gleaned from letters written by Roy Jinks and The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson by Supica and Nahas)

So per this information, looks like 1946.

Has round top and round sight notch. Barrel marked “I.N.S.”. Has grips like a modern M10. No provenance , bought at auction on a whim . Will try to post pix later .

The "I.N.S." barrel is a replacement barrel built in Brazil. I understand they shoot fine.
