Default S&W hand ejector Idnetify and Value.

Hey buddy has this S&W 32 long revolver and would like to know a little about the model and year made. Also he is thinking of selling it and wants to know a what a fair asking price would be.
He said it was a 4" or 4 1/4" barrel?
Can some of you help with this?
Thank you much and stay healthy,

Welcome! It's a .32 Hand Ejector from sometime in the early-mid 1920 decade (someone else may be along with a specific year). It was one of the odd models with a 4 1/4" barrel.

It looks heavily worn finish-wise and has modern rubber stocks, but if it is mechanically sound and not pitted internally it is probably worth about $250.

Yes, the 32s had a standard barrel of 4 1/4" besides the 3 1/4" and 6" up to the late 1952 Improved I frame, 2nd version when the barrel rib and ramped front sight were introduced. Then barrels changed to 3" and 4".

If there is a god, that Pachmayr style grip will spontaneously combust and turn to ash!!!!

The small logo was moved to the left side of the frame in 1920 and the mushroom shaped extractor knob ended in 1927-1928. A serial number would help. If there is no MADE IN USA on the right side of the frame, the gun would have been made before 1922.

The first thing to do with that revolver no matter how poor the condition is, would be to put an original set of black hard rubber stocks on it. They are available on ebay for a small cost and will add more value to the gun than the way it looks right now. Look for I frame stocks or 38 S&W Double Action stocks, as they both will fit. ebay will probably have some with wear for cheap, so check it out. If I want a shooter, I would look for a vintage S&W with a set of those massive rubber grips because I know that many collectors and shooters will not be the least bit interested. I have seen these go for $100 at auctions. At least if it looks proper, and functions well, it is a $150 - $200 gun.

Well, I just checked ebay and cannot find any currently for sale, so a fallback is to check out reproduction grips. Look here: S & W Hand Ejector .32 - Vintage Gun Grips - Reproduction Pistol Grips, Buttplates and Grip Caps.
