Approx Year
I have a S&W pre 27 inbound. The serial is S828xx. It is listed as 1950-1952. Can anyone give a closer estimate based on what is out there? I know they shipped randomly, so no absolutes without a letter.

For comparison, I have a 3 1/2 inch .357 Magnum serial number S759xx that shipped in April 1950.

On my list is S82824 which shipped in 2/52. That doesn't necessarily mean yours shares that date.

4th edition says 1951-1952 # S80500 - S85999. Looks like mid to late 1952 would be a fair guess.

I keep a list of well over 100 pre-27's shipped in 1950.
Highest serial number I have for a 1950 ship date is S81428.
