Pre 27 red ramp???
Did the Pre 27 come with a factory red ramp? Found a 5 inch in the gold box but was not sure of the front sight.

The Pre 27 could be ordered with the Red Ramp front sight. I had one a few years ago.

Yes, but it was not available as an original factory option until about 1952. I have a 1950 vintage pre-27, pictured below, that has the red ramp front sight and the white outline rear sight - both professionally done - but on a gun shipped too early to be factory original.
See this interesting thread at .357 magnum (pre-model 27) front sights and especially post #19 by RKmesa for more information on the red ramp sights on the Model of 1950 .357 Magnums.

Is the box numbered to the gun on the bottom ? If so it may also have the RR marked.

I have a well used pre 27 , 6.5" barrel. I believe that it came with a red ramp front sight. It has turned to light orange almost chalky white and is partially deteriorated, but it looks factory and has wear consistent with the gun.

Optional starting around 1952 or 53. I have one that shipped in 1957 and letters with the RR and WO.
