Default Lucky Armslist find

Saw this on Armslist this morning and it was only 4 miles from my house. A good excuse to use my C&R license that showed up a couple of weeks ago. It was wearing Pachmayrs but I had these earlier non relieved targets so I made the change. Also came with a nice Heiser holster and an Old West shoulder rig. Serial number S167863 should date it to 1957. I can't wait for the indoor range to open.

Nice, what length is the barrel? It appears to be 8.75. I have a short waist and can't imagine trying to holster that piece. The 2 holsters do make for a nice combo.

Congrats!!! What a great find. For reference, SN S167857 is also a blued 8 3/8" pre-27 and it shipped in May 1957.

Probably 8 3/8". S&W dropped the 8 3/4" length before WW II.

Thanks for the shipping reference Richard. You guys made me break out the ruler. It's a sixteenth under 8 3/8".

I knew that one wouldn't last. Congratulations! You now owe us a range report.
