Default I lettered my favorite Model 27

6.5" 4-screw M-27 shipped 3/11/1960

I recently added the Coke Bottle grips because I like them.
I might just add a target hammer to compliment the trigger shoe.

I did replace the original rear sight with a w/o rear sight because the original one was damaged when I took ownership or the gun.

This is my second gun that was originally shipped to the H.H.Harris Company in Chicago Illinois.

My other one was my 1957 4" pre-27.

Nothing unique and nothing special.

Except, its special to me.

Very nice!

If you do go ahead with a target hammer, you might consider looking for a matched set of target hammer and factory target trigger to avoid fitting and trigger pull issues.

Hammers and triggers are not "matched" pairs. They are not fitted. DA sears on new hammers MIGHT need fitting, but if so, I always try the sear off of the old hammer first. That has always worked for me.

I WOULD lose the trigger shoe. I absolutely hate em, but to each his own.

Congrats very nice. I want to get a letter too.

Quick question, beside the letter, does the "invoice" always comes with it? or you paid for that separately?

You probably hate trigger shoes as bad as I hate grip adapters.

I always ask for any additional info that's available.

I might be mistaken and I hope someone here clears this up but I think you might need to be a member of the S&W Historical Foundation get get copies of the original invoices.

I'm not sure. I think mostly just the looks of it.
I like the 6.5" barrel. I sold my 1961 6" M-27.
I know there's only a 1/2" difference but I think this one just looks better.

I've sold most of my M-27s and just kept a few. Actually I only kept three of them.

I kept this one, a 5" M-27-2 and a nice "S" prefix 6" nickle.

I can understand where you’re coming from. I feel the same about the 3.5 and 4 inch - there’s just something about the aesthetics of the 3.5” that pleases my eye. Still have the 3.5”?

Nope, I sold that one too. It was shipped in 1955.

If I had such a nice gun and a letter attesting to originality, less removable trigger shoe, I'd tend to lose the shoe and happily as "restored" leave it absolutely alone.
Just different strokes... Personally!
Congrats on the beauty!
Best & Keep Safe All!!!
