Purchased this one from a fellow police officer Dan Joseph who had Claude Simmons, a gun smith in LaPorte Colorado do the work. It was in an article by Ron Terril in 1962, Guns Magazine I believe. Carried it for a few years, then replaced it with a Mod 39. Found it shot well and worked very well as a club when you could avoid lethal force by a "little bit".

I love it when movie guns make sence to me and when "Raiders of the Lost Ark" came out oh so many years back Indy's carry piece struck a cord in my heart. Right era right time frame popular conversion at that time etc. Owning a Brazilian model had me thinking, who would I trust to do this? Clements had done some work for me in the past so. off it went(my gun originally had been dunked in a chrome tank, read wouldn't extract shells from cylinder and the last 1" or so of bore was frosted) to Ford's first for dechroming then down to Clements for assembly asked Charles to look at the bore and considered shortening barrel to 4" but, he though he could clean it up OK? And when he shot it and told me it shot better than most he'd fired left it alone and glad I did. But, that damned movie gun had me thinking?
Brazlian crest on the side plate is very faint but, suits me OK.

I've only got one modified 1917 so it has to be my favorite. It is a Commercial 1917 likely factory converted to .45 Colt Ctg. with a 6 1/2" barrel.
