Unusual Mod 1902 Target in .32 WCF.
Sunglasses may be required!
Mod 1902 1st change. Shipped April 1905. I imagine the combination of Nickel + Target is pretty unusual- the factory Pearls really put her over the top.
No rework marks, star is blue, ejector knob is case hardened, rebound stud is domed, patent stamps are sharp, all numbers match- good bore.
This must be the "blingiest" gun I own, and I do love my bling.
2 clicks on the pics give full resolution. Enjoy!

Configuration is so "out there" it seems like it would have been a special order. Anyone else seen something similar? Trying to get a handle on if she has any "sisters".

You do plan to have that with you in Tulsa! It would be fun to see it "in the flesh," so to speak.
(That is, if we get to have a meeting in Tulsa . . .)

While I’ve not seen one of its sisters, at least now I know to look.
Thank you for your edifying post, showing a magnificent piece! Wow!

Well finally at home and degreased. In this case literally. The action was packed with old, dried grease.
Full stripdown, cleaning and relubrication. Needed my thumbnail to scrape the parts clean.Sliding surfaces (and there's a number of them in this action) got a thin layer of grease, everything else oil. Function is fine. Not crisp like a later gun, but trigger break is unexpected and there's no creep. A few rounds will fix her right up.
Interesting in a K frame as she has the rod and detent to hold the cylinder open. Just needed some jetspray and back to functionality. I always liked that feature.
Never mind the blotchyness, she's lubed for storage until I get a chance with her at the range. Finish is excellent- 98% with a couple of small spots. The depth of color in the grips really can't be captured. Gorgeous.

The 1902 that started this thread off is, undoubtedly, a very very nice gun.
He are my 1899 Nickel .38 targets. The first image are the 4", 5", and 6" revolvers.
The second image are the 6 1/2" and the 8" revolvers.
Regards, Mike Priwer

Yes. All 1899 revolvers are all the same frame size. The first difference is two separate serial number series - one for .38's (and the pre-WW2 K-22's and K-32's), and the other for 32-20's (and a few dozen chambered in 32 long but in the 32-20 series). This was done for the entire K-frame production from 1899 through about 1940-41. The second difference is the introduction of the square-butt frame, at .38 caliber serial number 58000, and some other serial number for the 32-20 series.
Regards, Mike

Finally had a chance to run a box of 50 through her and she's a very pleasant shooter. Another nice thing is I can actually see the bead on the front sight which improved my targeting a great deal.
As suspected, she needed some exercise and the action is much crisper after the range trip. She'll be going back to the range sooner rather than later.

delcrossv, That is as elegant a Target sighted revolver as anyone could ever hope for, made even more perfect because it’s been used just a bit and you are continuing the tradition ! love the blued blade way out there.

I have one: 1902 1st Change, adjustable sights, nickel. A couple of spots were rubbed hard and look 'smudged'. the grips are perfect, and the cylinder is matching serial number to the gun.

Cool! Within 75 of mine. Must have been a run of that configuration. There's a recent post of a blued target with a close number as well.
👍
