Wichita PD NRM--Letter Arrived
This kiddo followed me home from a local gun show a few weeks ago (the last local show before Covid interrupted). It was wearing Rosewood presentation target shoes and masquarading as a "Pre 27". A sharp eyed forum member saw my early post and found the serial number in the SWCA data base. So off went the SWHF letter request.
This member of a Wichita, Kansas, PD order for 25 357 magnums would become one of the last shipped before magnum production halted for wartime efforts.
Apparently, original finish and now waring correct style stocks:

That deal right there are what dreams are made of. A Reg Mag for the price of a well used pre-27... Good for you!

Great find! You should have bought a lotto ticket that day, lol. The ones I've seen were in good condition.

Having been an officer on the Wichita PD from 1977 to 1984 before going to the U S Marshals Service, let me know if you’re ever interested in parting with it.
I would be interested.

I appreciate your interest. However, my son was born in Wichita when I worked for Cessna Aircraft. I am having to change the locks on my doors as it is...I really enjoyed my years in Wichita. Fine city, fine folks and great graduate school at WSU for which my employers paid my tuition. It is also the home of two of our country's greatest entrepreneurs: Dwane Wallace and Frank Carney. I had the priviledge of working for both.

What a great find! That's what keeps me visiting pawn shops and gun shows and even LGSs; you never know when a treasure will surface.
