can I get a rough estimate on the age of an S&W model 10-6, serial number 8d91xxx … Barrel is pinned

7D10,001 – 9D44,500……....1981 Are you sure it is stamped as a 10-6?

That guy was out of the gate late. My 10-6 is D428xx and my 10-8 is 9D192xx.

my apologies, it is a 10-7..... My first post about it being a 10-6 was from bad memory... I double checked, and is is a 10-7, serial 8d981xxx …. also, what year and/or model number did s&w stop pinning barrels on model 10's ???

I apologize again for the mixup in my original post...

That makes a lot more sense. My 10-7, s/n 18d3529 shipped 12/83. In 1982 they began eliminating the pinned barrel. Also in 1981 they moved the S&W logo from the side plate to the left side of the frame.
