Welcome aboard, the serial number on that particular revolver is located on the bottom of the grip frame, on the cylinder area where you load the piece, and on the underside of the barrel where it is hidden by the ejector rod, you must open the cylinder to read it. Just about any other numbers were assembly numbers used by the factory.
The folks on this site can usually get you somewhere in the ballpark but only a letter from Mr. Jinks and friends will give you the actual date it left the factory. There is a nominal fee associated with lettering a piece.

Welcome to the forum from Southwest Florida. I just traded into a M1917 last week. Great gun! I found this site mentioned here in another threads about the M1917’s after another forum member gave me a date for my revolver. I tried it and it was very close to what I had been told. If your revolver is military, it should work. Not sure if commercial or Brazilian contract guns come up, though. I’m just learning myself about this great piece of American military history myself. Post some pictures of it when you can, we’d love to see it.

U.S. Military Dates of Manufacture

No picture, and no serial number provided. That makes it nearly impossible to get any help here.

It's almost like saying. I have a Ford. Can you tell me when it was made?
