Default Standard/skinny/pencil/rattail

I get up the nerve, and then it fails,
To tell the word-smiths that rant and rail
When they see the term "pencil" applied
To skinny barrels.....They'd think I lied
If I said in the sticks, they's "rattails".

No offense to anyone, Just read the discussion here a while back and hadn't penned a limerick in a spell.

I guess we could call them "skinny jeans barrels" instead of "pencil barrels".

That ought to get a few folks' heads a spinnin'.

Or we could just use the correct term tapered barrel. I don't know why folks want to make up new and incorrect words when correct words already exist.

Wish the Brits and Australians felt that way.

Great topic.

But wait, there's more.

Roving J (Roy's term), floating J, hammerless, pre-model, no-dash (if you say "Model 36," isn't it obvious there's not a dash?), and other things folks knot their knickers over.

Much ado about not much.

My favorite is the folks that designate some S&W's as a 'CTG model'.

Sorry I couldn't figure a way to incorporate "45 LONG Colt" into my little rhyme.

There once was a man from Nantucket,

( Relax .....hold-on it's NOT that)

...who picked clams from the shore in a bucket.

He said with a grin, when he spied an urchin....

'Twere that a mollusk....

I could shuck it.
