Today I picked up a 1954 Pre 27, blue, with a 6" barrel and Class A engraving by Harry Jarvis.

The original box is in great shape and I got the original cleaning items and tools as well.

I'm in S&W heaven

I don't believe that is a Rhinestone... looks more like a blue diamond. Doesn't get much better than that! And topped off with non releived Rosewood targets...

Doug:

That makes my heart warm all over to know that that beauty made its way here to the Valley of the Sun.

Congrats, that is a wonderful package. I have admired it from afar and appreciate you sharing it with us here on the forum.

That is one of the most gorgeous revolvers I have ever seen.
If it were mine I think I would replace the orange on the front sight
with a gold bead.

Whew! That is a beautiful gun! I love the pre 27's and the 27's. My favorite caliber in a revolver.

Did the factory engravers get their choice of where (and font size) the S&W logo would be placed? Maybe to facilitate or enhance their design?

Reason I ask is my "unscratched" pre-27 Letters as shipping October 16, 1952 and the S&W logo is on the other frame side than the OP's really classy 1954 gun. Just wondering as I don't see any engineering changes that took place in those 2 years.

OP: Does the gun appear to have been fired after factory? It just looks too nice to make a range visit....kinda like asking the Prom Queen to go mud-bogging after the dance.

Engraved revolvers have the small logo on the left side of the frame so the side plate could be fully engraved.

The only information I have is what I was told. I was told this particular revolver has not been fired beyond original factory firing. I sure hope that's true!!

thats funny, but just think, if she says yes you are set for life if you can manage to keep the whole enchilada from sliding off the combo plate.

That is a gorgeous revolver. I too am a victim of .357 N frame lust

Sometimes, when I see a thread like this about a crown jewel I click it, and see something that's neat, but not quite a crown jewel.

This is not one of those threads.

What a treasure!

I am so partial to those particular rosewood stocks too, of all the factory produced stocks that are available to mere mortals such as I, those are far and away my favorite.
