Default A Shooter Magnum ...

I picked this finish-worn but otherwise sound 3.5" nonregistered Magnum up a while back, replaced its transition hammer-block replacement hammer with a proper one, and have proceeded to shoot the heck out of it - it has been running 200-300 rounds a week for a long time. It takes a while to get the hang of an N frame, in terms of shooting, handling and carrying, but it is now my most shot and most trusted handgun and shows no signs of stopping. In fact, I am taking it out to Gunsite in August for a 250 Revolver class. The Barranti "Chairman" holster has turned out to be perfect for it - carrying the gun high and tight, concealing easily, allowing a full combat grip and a speedy presentation; the Barranti "Spare" speedloader holder splits the belt, rides comfortably, and allows an HKS to be carried under a vest or blazer with no telltale lump. All in all, I have never had this much fun shooting.

I shoot my RM. Not that much, but it gets used. Gave up carrying it long ago.

I am glad that I am not the only one out there shooting a Reg Mag. Your's looks like a dandy

I love the 3.5" Reg Mag (non-reg for this one).

It belonged to the chief of police in University Park, Texas, which is inside the city of Dallas.

I have shot it quite a bit with the factory magnas and a Tyler Tee grip. It is very smooth. I would carry it more, but work clothes require something a bit more conservative.

I normally shoot a +P HP-38 cast bullet load in it as that is what it prefers; I have also tinkered some with 175 grain Keiths and 158 grain "Skeeter" loads in it with 38 brass, slightly downloaded to eliminate sticky extraction.

Did you letter it? KCPD? Wichita? That's a great gun and even greater how much you are enjoying it! Give us a range report from Gunsite.
Sad Mrs. Janelle won't be there to serve lemonade and brownies

I am pretty sure this gun came lettered; all I can recall about it was "1940." I need to look. In fact, I need to also make use of the Historical Foundation soon.

Nice, I don't have a 3.5" pre-war, but I do have a couple of circa-1950 pre-27s in the S78000 serial number range:

The nickel one is one of my favorite shooters.

I don’t have a 3.5” revolver but I am a big fan of 4” N frames. These are all 45 ACP. The upper left is my EDC, but they have all had holster time.

My only 4" N frame is also a carry gun for me. Not EDC, but "as necessary".
