Two M&P treasures from 1939
Within the last year, I finally found not one, but TWO of my grail guns, shipped in the year I was born, 1939. I decided today to make a formal portrait of the two of them together. Here they are in all their nearly pristine glory!
The blued target M&P is blessed with a 99% finish, a humpback hammer (factory) and either rosewood or dark walnut magna stocks. It dates from June of '39.
The nickeled example duplicates one I saw and fell in love with when I was just a kid, shown to me by a bank guard where my father worked in a bank in Phoenix. It shipped in August of '39, and I have a letter in the works from Roy now. I'd rate the finish at 99.5%.
I was extremely fortunate to find such beautiful treasures, and I had to show them both in one picture for you!
John
P.S. The cylinders on each lock up solid with no wiggle at all when the hammer is down and the trigger fully pulled. I marvel at the workmanship - no way such precision is duplicated today, I'm sorry to say. Another pleasant surprise and a tip of the hat to the workmen of '39 who took pains to do it right!

Beautiful Revolvers. I am still looking for one Manufactured in 1949. May would be best but I would not be picky on the month.

Gorgeous! Two of the nicest M&P's I've seen. Congrats!
That shiny is something else.

BEAUTIFUL guns! I especially love the target model. Glad to know that these great guns are residing here in the Valley of the Sun.
Thanks for sharing,
