S&W stopped production of the .32-20 revolvers in about 1929-1930. Sales after that came from the ones in stock. The .32-20 was listed in the catalog until about 1939-40.

I would nudge that down a bit from jimmyj's...........I'm thinking closer to $350-400. Niche market with only limited demand from folks, "in the know".

Couple pics...of a picture.

I like the 5s but the shorter the barrel the higher the selling price. I always ask "What barrel length?" when appraisals are sought. Looks nice. I would guess (all we can do is guess) 4-5. Check for a bulged barrel. FMO common with this caliber.

Well, 39 bids and a final resting place of 820 ... it was worth it to someone.

It does look very nice compared to most of these that we see, and at least on my small screen I see nothing obvious to doubt it being all-original. Still, wouldn’t have gone over 500 if I were still in the market.

Cabella’s in Gainesville VA has one tagged at $999.

I bid on that gun up to $550 as I didn't feel it was worth more than that. Was surprised it sold for over $800. It's obviously a very clean example where most .32-20s look pretty beat up, and they certainly don't come up for auction often in this condition. There are a number of them on GB with BINs over $900 and in far worse shape.

That added $250 to the price.

That is a pretty one...I'd only be interested if it were a target model at the price, of course I would not expect the target model to be that pretty. I also prefer them shorter unless equipped with adjustable sights.

I love 5" guns in all frames, but yeah, I would absolutely LOVE a Target.

I would have to reload for sure. The .32-20 I found locally was $33/50.

Here is a .32-20 Target with a 5" barrel. Of course, it is much older than the one under consideration here and not in as good condition. I bought this one in 2005, and it was already wearing the post-1910 stocks. It is a favorite.

Oh yeah---quite a bit of difference actually.

There's this book. They call it Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson. It came out in 1996 as I recall---237 pages. The 4th edition came out what----two years ago---give or take---526 pages---seems to have caught on.

Anyhow, the folks that wrote it spend a lot of time talking about condition----and condition as it relates to value. The pages on condition are worth reading----and understanding---especially because condition impacts value probably more than anything else---except maybe rarity---or provenance that shows it was made for Abraham Lincoln---or anybody else that would get most folks' motor running.

At any rate, chit-chat about values ain't worth spit unless the condition is known----for sure and certain.
