Given the time (I'm thinking) the Wondersight came out I'll guess this is the best "period correct" sub-forum. I suppose I should have guessed there was something like this out there and am sure most here already know of them, but it was news to me.

I take it these are a simple bolt on item. Is there any down side to playing around with them, such as a wear mark on the sideplate? I have a transition Heavy Duty and maybe one or two other older models these might be fun on.

No downside, they work fine. You have to use them only on a revolver having the upper sideplate screw as that it where it attaches, at least those I have seen. You may find the front sight blade may be a bit low as there is a limit as to how low the rear Wondersight can be lowered.

Just mounted one of the little eye-sores in the top sideplate screw hole on a ragged 2nd Model Hand Ejector 44 that was in the habit of planting my 200 grain RNFP/W-231 loads about 6 inches low and half that to the left at 40 feet. She's now the belle o' our ball, after I adjusted a couple times, held'er dead center, and she at least touched a 3" circle with 10/10 consecutive rounds

Ordered two, did a search and the sight has been previously posted here and worked well. In addition to the 5" HD I have a 2nd Model HE in 455 Webley on which I'm sure it will be a good fit.

Always something new to fiddle with.

Glad to hear they work, but looking at that makes me think of what I was told about the interior adjusters for automobile side mirrors - "You need it so you can put it back after you bump it and throw it off."

I wouldn't exactly call it an "eyesore" I have always thought for what they accomplish ... they looked rather nice and business like.
Back in the day your options were limited when your S&W didn't put em where it looked .
Custom gunsmith installed sights = $$$$ or the Wondersight= $

Have previously owned 1905 4th Change M&P in 38 Special so equipped as a somewhat period addition. Shot to the right but
Womdersight dialed it dead on.

Made it much more fun to shoot.

There is one locally on a Smith 1917. I've looked at in the case a great number of times and was always curious about that sight addition! Thanks for informing me on what they are!

Thanks for the information on how to purchase one. I have one order for my old M&P .32-20 that shipped in 1919. People back then must have had wonderful eyesight. That rear sight is tiny.

After calling the Wonder Sight an eyesore, I probably should admit that it doesn't touch off nearly the number of s******s that one of my old Brazilians draws anytime shooters that haven't seen it take a close gander at its terribly left-leaning front sight. Guess I should straighten it back up and install a Wonder Sight, but, darn, she's a dot-shootin fool.

My wondersight arrived and I got it mounted on my 1919 M&P in 32-20. After zeroing it in at 20 yards, I spent the next hour putting holes in the ten ring from a rest. I shot rounds with Lyman 3118 and Lyman
311316/GC. It really is a wonder sight.

I once had a .32-20 target model. The sights were so small I had a heck of a time shooting it.

The Wondersight is much better than some of the other sight modifications that have been posted here on the Forum over the years. There have been some revolvers modified with an adjustable rear sight mounted right on top of the top strap, coupled with a front sight that looked to be an inch and a half above the barrel.
