45 Cal Model of 1955 - neat story!
First a "thank you to Flygas"! Many of you probably seen I bought a 45 Cal model of 1955 from him. Now, "the rest of the story". The reason I bought the gun, it was shipped on my birthday! I was born during the war so a "birth-year gun" is almost impossible for me to find. The gun is now in my hands and after some research I have uncovered some interesting points about the gun. The gun is all correct and is a first year of manufacture gun! It came with a letter stating it was shipped on 16 September 1955. This is my birth-day, not year! I'm a few years older! Mr Jinks wrote the factory letter on 16 September 2015! That's 60 years, to the day, of the guns shipment from the factory. A " Happy Birthday to me"! The gun now resides in a proper box!

Very nice! I've had mine for 30+ years and love to shoot it because it tears the center out of targets in a short period of time.
Congratulations on getting one with a perfect "Born Date".

I understand your excitement. I was also born during the war, (1941). I have had much difficulty finding any revolver (that I could afford) that shipped during 41, although I did have for awhile a BSR that shipped to Australia.

You have a beautiful pistol with a neat story.
Are the grips numbered to the revolver? The one I own have the non relieved target grips. Mine has seen a little use. Great shooters!

Great looking 1955 and story history. The S&Ws of the
50s are some of the best looking ones
made. Hopefully I'll add a 50s Target one day too. The case you housed it in looks terrific, too.
Wonder who did the work? Thanks for sharing it with
us. Beautiful pieces of work, the S&W and the Case!!
Best Randy.

Joe:
Great gun and story. As a lover of all things wood, I also love the custom display "rack" that your case is sitting on - very well done.
Thanks for sharing,

Fleabus 101 - The case was made by a gentleman here in south east Ohio for me. The wood is Walnut, cut on his place, and made to resemble the S&W cases. I made the custom interior and the tools I borrowed from my pre mod 44 mag for the pics!

Case Rack
RKmesa - The rack is one I made for shows to display cases and not take up table space. They are collapsible for ease of transport.
