Please add my VICTORY to the data base. Back from Australia in the '80s she doesnt seem to show much use at all. Bore is like new with appropriate stamping on the top strap and matching stocks. Please forgive the addition of the Tyler, it helps my shooting. Ser# V 316134 , and of course is a five inch piece. Seems to be from the first batch sent over. Maybe late 1943, according to some of you in the know. She will get to the range tomorrow. I am in doubts she was ever actually issued. Thank You to a Great member here for the opportunity to own this fine piece. Late 1943 is about as close to a birth gun as I will get, being born late October 1944.

This does not look like an Australian FTR finish, but all-original. I see no Australian stampings on the left (no VEGA mark either) and the holster covers the area where any Lithgow marks would be. How was the Australian provenance determined?

You have it pegged about right timewise with that serial. A few years late for the “first batch” though; the first Australia-direct shipment was in May 1941

Just what was poffered up on the forum at one point. No Lithgow marks I can see. Vega import mark under the cylinder on frame when you open it. Nice of them not to stamp it on the side plate.

Ah. Good one. Non-FTR’d Australians are not often seen.

The FTR marks are so blatantly obvious that a blind man could feel them. So your gun wasn’t. I think it or one like it was shown on the forum before; the Vega mark under the cylinder rings a bell.

Well now. I wasnt really sure what to expect out of this Victory. However, a quick trip to the range soon made me realize what a gem she really is. The below target is one of eight, all showing the pretty much same results. Not only was I very happy with the gun, I am even more happier with the range results. My hand loads are ok as well
I would ask, is this normal for these guns?? As noted in a earlier post, the bore looked like new and NO marks on the recoil shield. I have to say, I am a bit surprised with the results. Thanks again to the fine member who made all this possible.

FIRST RANGE TRIP: 21ft.

No, I took the stocks off tonight after a great time at the range to soak them in Lemon oil polish. There are NO further markings on this gun under the stocks or elsewhere other than the laser engraved import mark under the cylinder on the frame. You have to really look for it. One great shooter for sure.
