Default Finally got my 38/44 Outdoorsman home

I posted about this gun about 2 weeks ago as the seller had it listed as a HD police target. The Marbles on one side of the front sight blade and Sheard on the other disproves that myth for sure. The gun also came with a nice new set of Sile service grips but I found OldK22 on this forum and thanks to him it now wears some original service grips that fit the gun excellent. The gun was carried at some point in its life but is still in very good to excellent condition but the wear on grips match nicely with amount of wear on the gun. The gun just feels "substantial", just like I imagine a Registered Magnum would feel, and operates so smoothly just like "butter". The gun deserves a letter because whoever ordered with the gold bead front sight and round notch rear really knew what they were doing.... it has an excellent sight picture. I can not wait to shoot a few rounds with it. Serial is 42092 and I just love it. This gun along with my K22 Outdoorsman are the centerpiece of my collection so far. Thanks for any comments and just for looking.

Nicest looking HD Police Target that I've seen yet. Congrats. Don't you love it when a seller doesn't know what they have and you do?

I've got 422xx that shipped 10/33. It also has the Marbles/Sheard front sight. Think you got a good one!

No I actually found it with a BUY NOW of $910 on GunBroker, the seller had just listed it that morning. I have found quite a few good deals on the site but I spend much time on there looking (at least an hour every day). You have to be very good examing the pictures, knowing the S&W history and be quick to act if something comes up because either it will get bought or bid up way too high. I have seen guns go unnoticed for weeks and soon as I gather up the funds, the gun gets noticed and bid way up high. I even had a pre model 24 on my watchlist for over a year for $1899.00 then I finally decided I was going to buy it and put my bid in- the very next day somebody bought it with a buy now for $1999.00. So a little luck is also needed. I try to stick with only sellers who are FFL holders with good ratings and have never had any luck with the most popular high end sellers as everybody watches those sellers closely. I have lost out on many great deals too, either by not knowing enough, not enough money on hand at the time or just my stubborn self not willing to bid more than a gun is worth or the worst of all..... not willing to pay what the gun is worth because I am wanting a bargain so badly. Sometimes it has been a roller coaster ride but I enjoy the hunt of guns probably as much as actually getting them, I am always on to the next "trophy buy".

I understand the "hunt" for reasonable deals.
Im in the same boat these days. Your luck and
good thinking served you well on this very nice
outdoorsman. Im looking for an early target N Frame to use some Roper sets of grips on I can afford. I'm selling off long rifles
I'm not into anymore to pick up some funds for early Smiths. Glad you found this one and pursued it well.
Best Randy..
