Question 4th Hammerless

Can anyone tell me how to preserve the stocks, which I believe are hard rubber??? Also, mine have a green tint to them- anyway to return them to black without any damage?? THANKS!! Oh yeah, if it makes any difference, the gun was shipped August 1900.
