Default .38-44 Ejector Rod Threads.. ??

I have a .38-44 heavy duty made in 1954.... should the ejector rod threads be right handed or left handed... I have a friend who has a 28-3 highway patrolman, and it looks like its ejector rod thread are left handed.... Left to tighten, right to loosen... I'm trying to loosen the threads on my .38-44, and it doesn't seem to want to budge either way.... I don't want to be putting too much force on the wrong direction..,.,, again, the .38-44 was made in 1954.... thanks for any help

Look at the end of the rod-if there is a ring right behind the threads, it has left handed threads. Always put empty cartridge cases in the cylinder before loosening or tightening the rod.

Once I remove the cylinder from the revolver, I usually use wood inserts in my bench vise and leather wrapped around the rod. A drop or two of Kroil down the rod helps. Tighten and loosen.

A 1954 gun would have right hand threads.

K and N frame models generally switched to leaft hand threads ~ 1959 is usually associated with the -1 model #.

I frame models switched to left hand threads when re-introduced after WWII. The J frame was introduced new with LH threads in 1950.
