Default possible purchases of revolvers

My good friend has for sale several of his guns because of a serious medical condition. Among the guns that he has for sale is a 4" 19-3 that is very clean with rosewood targets that I can have for $550. The second gun is a 4 screw Combat Masterpiece that I can have for $500, also very clean condition. I am also purchasing a very nice Browning Hi Power from around 1950 that was an Austrian police gun with box and zipper case. If it turns out to be a 1950 gun, that is a birth year gun for me. What do you think about the prices of the model 19 and the combat masterpiece.

Those are excellent prices and you should buy the guns.

What do you think about the prices of the model 19 and the combat masterpiece.
Based on today’s prices, I think your friend has under-valued his revolvers.
I think you could give your friend $1200 and you’d still be good shape and you’d help him more with his serious medical condition.

I agree with VM. A good friend needs help right now wih medical bills. Give him what you can. You know they are worth more. How will you feel tomorrow?

Both guns are under priced, and excellent deals for you. If he's that good a friend and is having issues, an extra couple of hundred in the total price would still be a good deal for you, and a better one for him. Just curious, how much are you paying for the BHP?

The prices mentioned sound like probably more than twice orig prices. If he's good selling to you thats alright.
I dont see people selling guns or items for several times what they paid then postulating
about gouging people when the shoes on the other foot.
If your both good on the deal thats what counts
No one knows here the situation to comment.
I'll hush before I get in trouble.

Default Oh Brother, where...

The movie line: " Do not seek the treasure." does not apply here. Go see your nearest loan shark and close this deal before you change my mind.

Your friend is selling them because he is in distress.
He's offering you a deal, but out of need. Buy them, enjoy them, think of him when you shoot the.
And if he's your friend, throw a few hundred on top of his asking price.

A person could only spend a week here and know those are steals. To low ball him would not make you a friend worth having.

He is dying from Mesotheieoma, just diagnosed and is stage 4. To look at him you would think he was the picture of health. Wonderful man. I am so sad about this. He is selling off lots of things including his guns. I told him that his prices were too low but he wants to be fair and give some of his friends a chance to enjoy his stuff.

Some things are more important than money. A couple in my church had to move to Spain with very little notice. On the Sunday morning that they were scheduled to depart they stopped by the church early. He pulled out a 2.5" Model 19-4, a Star BM9, and some reloading gear and handed them to me. I had about $200 on my person, and told them that I could give them that and go to the nearby ATM to get a couple of hundred more. They looked at my quizzically, told me to put my money away, and said that they wanted to give them to me for helping them out as their pastor.

I think your friend wants you to have them, and is low balling his prices.

This is a situation where you should feel good paying full asking price. You'll probably be helping much more in the near future. Joe

I think that your friend is trying to take advantage of you. If you send me his telephone number I will call him and let him know.

That's good of him, and he's (maybe?) getting more for them than he paid, but (maybe?) he doesn't realize how much certain models have appreciated in value over the years. A good friend who does realize it, like you, would tell him, and a good friend would also offer more than he is asking, within the range of what these guns sell for on the open market, while still getting a good deal and making it better for him. In his circumstances, a little extra cash might be nice. Sometimes, it isn't the amount itself that matters, but what it says about your appreciation of him.

He is a true friend. Treasure and cherish his friendship as he is indeed a good man. My prayers are there for him.

As an aside , if the Hi Power in question would be your first - you are in for an eye opening experience.

Enjoy.

In all my years of gun buying, I hate these situations. Buying from friends in hard times or death. To the OP, go with your conscious. It looks like a friend deal.

Buy them to help out your old friend. The prices seem more than fair and I'm sure he could use the money.

Pay him what he asks , he knows they are worth more but wants to give you a deal . He's not asking you to give more out of pity . Pay him his asking price like he was gonna live forever unless he is broke and hurting for the money . Does not sound like that is the case .

Tom, buy them for what he's asking. It's a dying man's wish so honor it. When the dust settles, literally, down the road keep what you want and sell the others with no remorse. This will be many of our story some day. God bless him and you as well my friend.
