2 new purchases, couldn’t be farther apart
Latest purchases, a registered magnum and a Mk 1 gyrojet. Positive thing from the COVID,not spending money on anything else, wife was looking on gunbroker and said haven’t you always wanted one? Well now is the time to get it, and then the Gyrojet showed up and she said might as well get that too. I’m a happy man, even with a mask on.

Hello Chuck, that is a great suggestion from your wife!
You took her advice.

A wife that actively is on GB? WOW, now that a winner. That's even better than mine who has absolutely no interest in what I buy but will gladly go shoot with me.

It turns up occasionally, but this is the 13mm and it doesn’t show up much. It came with 11 rds but don’t want to mess up the display and from what I’ve read, there only about a 50 0/0 chance it would work anyway

This is pretty much my wife as well. Many years ago she bought me a Mossberg 500, back when the safe was mostly empty.
She's home alone in the country quite a bit, so she's always up for some training, but as a buyer of anything but ammo she's now over her head.

She first started looking when I said I was looking for a birth year gun, ended up with a pre 27 and a Winchester 94. The funny thing is I work at the pawn shop we use for transfers, so these have been some nice surprises at work.

I’ll check that out. It came with a lot of interesting paperwork, such as instructions, certificate from the manufacturer as to being one of the first 1000 made, a complaint letter from the original owner about dud bullet and a replacement from the company.

The Gyrojet has to be at the top of the list for quirky gun designs. I've only read about them never saw one in person. It's kinda one of those things that makes you wonder just what they were thinking when they designed it.

I happened to see a video on YouTube today about the Gyrojet. I had never heard of it before, very interesting how the hammer hits the front of the projectile. Ahead of its time and quite expensive new. And then seeing this thread, pretty cool.

Have to admit, kinda surprised the Gyrojet is getting so much more comment than the registered magnum

Please post more information about your RM. What is the barrel length, sights, etc.? I am viewing on a iPhone, so picture is too small for me to see details very well. Thanks.

My wife loves to shoot, but I get a chuckle when someone walks up and says "What are you shooting?" She just points to me and says "Ask him".

The ammunition is not particularly futuristic, seeing as how it was first developed in 1848. Rocket Ball - Wikipedia
Interestingly it was used in the earliest Smith & Wessons/Winchesters. Volcanic Repeating Arms - Wikipedia

The tround was an interesting concept that really did have some practical potential - a magazine-fed revolver. One reason it didn't have much success was the weird and off-putting appearance of the Tround revolver. Believe it or not, there was some discussion given to using something like the Tround revolver as armament for commercial aircraft pilots during the post 9/11 period, and for good reason. I was involved in a minor way.
