Mod 34?? need help with ID
S&W.jpg
Hi,
can I get some help identifying this revolver? We looked in the books at the local gun shop and couldn't nail it down....
nickel plated
hand ejector
serial #125xx
22 long rifle
4" barrel, 1 1/4" cylinder
adjustable rear sight
4 side screws, none on guard
it doesn't have a mod # on yoke.
thanks,
Anewell

Welcome to the forum!
It's a "Model of 1953 .22/32 Kit Gun" from before Model #s were introduced in mid-1957. It became the Model 34 and is referred to as a Pre Model 34. It's built on the 1953 New I frame with 4 screws and then 3 screws after 1956.
Based on the serial #125XX, it was shipped ~April or May of 1955.

Welcome to the forum.
Jim has nailed down the model and ship date for you very well. From what I see, its a non-factory refinish in nickel, since S&W never plated the hammer or trigger.
Hope this helps a little....

The trigger doesn't look nickel. The hammer has too much light on it to tell for sure.
Is there an N stamped under the stock on the left side of the grip frame near the heel of the butt?

Did you also notice the rear sight appears to be satin nickel?

The trigger, hammer and rear sight are nickel, and there is an A
under the left grip near butt...
