Default S&W Model 27-1 range report (pics)

This is a Model 27-1 which is a 4-screw revolver with four serial numbers in all the different parts (but not the stocks).

It is lettered to 4-19-1963 and to NYC (a PX base).

I fired it on target at 30', 45', and 60'. It performed beautifully at all distances. BTW, I think it had a trigger modification some time after 1963 since the trigger is quick but very good.

Very nice gun, just beautiful. Those grips are very nice too. I had my pre 27( little difference from your 4 screw) with 6.5 inch barrel out and just as you say, they are a joy to shoot. Mine is certianly (as most probably are) more accurate than the shooter. The single action from the factory is a wonder to behold, so yours is possibly bone stock.

I like the gun, and I LOVE the stocks! It's damned difficult to find diamond targets, and damned expensive when you do! I've got three pre-27s, and only one came with correct grips. This nickel 3.5 barrel pre-27 below wears Culik (Kerouc) grips.

Very nice. Glad to hear it shoots so well for you. Here are a few pictures of my 27-1 I've posted in the past.

Sure looks like coke stocks to me, and if so that's an even bigger plus.

You are correct, but the original stocks are long gone.

This is S220xxx (shipped 4-19-1963).

// I also have this Model 27-1 3 1/2" (S218xxx) which was shipped April, 1962. It does not have the proper stocks. It does have the matching numbers on all of the other gun parts.//
