Default Trying To Identify Hand Ejector

I have a S&W Hand Ejector I am trying to identify. It is a 5 screw, K-frame size revolver. It is in .38 S&W Special caliber. Serial Number is S8403xx. It has a fixed rear sight and a rounded (half moon?) front sight. It has a 5 inch tapered barrel. The serial numbers all match on the bottom of the barrel, on the cylinder, on the Magna checkered grips (with diamond around the grip screw), and the bottom of the grip frame. There is no model number behind the yoke, only an assembly number.

Any general information is appreciated. Thank you for the time spent on this posting.

Hi

You have a postwar .38 Military & Police revolver. The S prefix guns only shipped from February, 1946, until the supply in the vault ran out sometime in the latter half of 1948. The last of them were assembled in March, 1948.

Guns bearing the S840xxx serial range were shipping in October, 1946, so there's a good chance yours left the factory during that period. Since they were not shipped in serial order, we cannot be sure of the ship date for yours, but that would be close.

I do maintain an extensive database of these revolvers. I would appreciate having the full serial number on yours so I can include it in the accumulated data (ownership is not tracked). If you don't wish to post it on the public forum, please send me a PM. Thanks.
