Default 1905 HE M&P date

I recently acquired this 1905 HE in .38 special. The Standard Catalog has a pretty wide range for the serial number and I am hope the experts here can narrow it down. I am guessing late 20s based on the grips. Serial is 502661

Thanks for the help.

That one is very nice. Maybe from 1925. The closest one I own is 5315xx and it shipped in February, 1926.

That style of stocks was used from 1920 until 1929-30. But there are two other clues putting your revolver in the 1923-27 period.
1. Made in U.S.A. was added in about May, 1922; and
2. The mushroom shaped extractor rod disappeared in late 1927 or early 1928, on the .38s (it lasted a little longer on the .32-20).

I love the looks of the non-medallioned checkered walnut stocks from the 1920s. Unfortunately I am still awaiting a nice commercial M1917 from the same era wearing similar designed stocks.

The stocks on your example are simply gorgeous!
