Smile Early 44 Magnum in Original Case

This 44 Magnum was shipped on May 8, 1956 and is one of the first three hundred made by S&W. I acquired it about twenty years ago in its original pebble grain presentation case with accessories. The stocks are replacements for the originals, but fit very well and are a fairly early pair of smooth stocks with the relieved area on the left stock panel.

Click on the photo for a better look.

Wink EDC?

That's a beauty, but compared to the magnificent engraved one you put up the other day, that's your EDC, right?

Seriously, how have you managed to keep the liner in the case so nice? Was it a different material than the ~70's display cases?

Why do I want to click on the photo, I'm depressed enough looking at the small picture. Wanna come over and kick my dog?

The inserts of presentation cases in the 1950s were covered with blue satin, not a synthetic material used to cover inserts of cases used 1969-1975 and 1979-1985. Also, you should never store your 44 Magnum in its presentation case. Cases from the 1950s typically have a small tear where the rear sight blade rests and sometimes where the front sight blade rests.

Even though the link to the image is showing in the above quote when I type my reply, I get no image in the post itself, nor the quoted post when it reappears in my answer. There have been several of your posts like that, and I definitely want to see the picture. This only recently started, a few weeks ago I got the pictures in the post.

Born in 1956. This could be my birth year gun. I'll give ya $500 for it. Take your time and think about it.

Seriously, what a work of art.
