Model 1913 -- 32 ACP

I have a S&W **.32 ACP** Model 1913 (or whatever model # it is also known by) (I also own 2 original model 1913s in 35S&W), but I am befuddled by how to disassemble the .32, and can't find instructions anywhere. Can anyone point me to disassembly instructions for this rare 32 acp follow-on version of the original (but very different) Model 1913 (.35 S&W caliber)? Thanks!

I'm not sure if this applies to your pistol , but a lot of .32s of that era had a takedown procedure that involved first rotating then removing the barrel while the slide is locked back.

These are just theoretical thoughts since I have never owned or handled one of the .32 versions.

I‘ll assume you are familiar with the standard Model 1913 procedure including the pull-down pivoting trigger guard:

Now it appears clear that the .32 version also has the pivot pin for the trigger guard, so this likely plays a role. Pivoting the trigger guard down may free the slide to be moved forward off the frame. You possibly need to disconnect and pull back the separate breechblock first. Good luck!

The Model 1924 32 automatic is a redesign of the Model 1913 35 automatic. Some similarities not many. Only 957 produced.
To remove the slide drop magazine
Depress and hold the large button of the breech block inward
Locate the small hole behind the rear sight and use a small punch, paper clip etc and depress the spring loaded pin within.
The slide will go forward and off the frame leaving the small breech block in place. You can lift the breech block off afterwards.
The barrel is pinned to the frame by use by the above mentioned "pivot"
pin and does not rotate. The trigger guard is a solid part of the frame and does not pivot like the Model 1913 35 automatic.

I can't remember who it was, but at the Reno Symposium two years ago, a member had a table displaying a couple dozen of these pistols. I greatly enjoyed looking them over. I don't know if he is active on this Forum, but I hope he shows up to add his knowledge to this thread.

THANK YOU, SWSC! worked perfectly. Pretty simple once you know how, but there are at least 5 screws and pins on the frame and it's not obvious by looking at it whether to start with any of them. I've left those in place as they seem to hold lots of small hidden parts in place. But at least it can now have a decent sonic bath, which it very desperately needed!
