Picked up a Victory Model Sunday V82095
Wasn't looking for one but found this at the local Sunday morning flea market. I always wanted one of these.
The revolver is chambered in 38 S&W, is all matching (including right grip), marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the top strap and WB , P and ordnance bomb on the butt along with the serial number. No import stamps. There is obvious wear to the pistol but the bore is perfect and the internals appear to work as they should. I have 26 rounds of old FN ammo that I acquired 30-ish years ago so I intend to try it out later this week.
I assume the revolver was made in July-September 1942 timeframe?
Here's some pics.
Thanks for looking!
Kim

Nice. Obviously all-original. Heavy wear, but even, and no evidence of abuse or corrosion. All markings a Lend-Lease BSR should have.
The absence of post-war proofs is a real bonus; likely left British service "unofficially" and made its way over here like-wise

Good guess, Kim. I would say, based upon the Victory Model Database, that your revolver likely shipped from the factory in the late August to September, 1942 time frame.
That's a neat, original gun.

I've said it before , but I am a sucker for patina. That revolver has a very attractive quality of wear. Exudes character.
Way to go.

Thank you for the comments.
When I picked the revolver up, the indoor lighting was horrible so it was hard to see what I had in my hands and what the markings were. I handed him my drivers license for security and he let me take it outside in the natural lighting and check it out. It is what it is but I think I bought it at an okay price or maybe not - haha! ($350).
Like I said before, I had 26 38s&w rounds left over from eons ago. I was actually surprised I still had them. I also stopped by one of the local gunstores today and found one shop that had that round in stock in some quantity. It was Fiocchi and marked '38 s&w short'. I had to google that caliber description to make sure it would work. So I went ahead and bought a box of 50 for $27. Price didn't seem to crazy considering what is going on with ammo prices.
Anyway, I've rambled on to long!

You say you paid $350 for an evenly worn Lend Lease BSR in original condition ...
Take a look at the minimum bids on BSRs on Gunbroker and I think you'll feel real good about that price.
Enjoy shooting that old iron. 38 S&W is a very pleasant round.

Nice find! These old victories are some of my favorite S&W's. I would never have thought that .38 S&W short would work in these revolvers. I think I might have a box of that ammo.

While the .38 Short Colt is a thing, I believe the .38 S&W Short is just the result of confusion. To my knowledge it is just another unnecessary name for the .38 S&W which some people and even a few marginal manufacturers use to distinguish it from the .38 S&W Special. And the .38 S&W is these guns’ original chambering.

Yes, that "name" drives me nuts. I have no idea where Fiocchi got it. Made it up, I guess.

Common use in Europe, I'd wager.

What a nice shooting revolver!
I took it out today and shot 18 rounds through it. No problems at all. Enjoyed it very much!

I think I'm going to hang on to this revolver and shoot it occasionally.
I hit the gunshow this weekend and between that show and a local gun store I frequent, I accumulated an additional 300 rounds of ammo at what I consider pre-covid pricing.
Thanks for everyones comments!

I have a pair of Victorys in 38 S&W along with some others in the same chambering dating back to 1876. The Victory's are indeed fun to shoot and are right on. I do of course load for these as current prices if found are over the top. Winchesters offering, if found are over $40.00 a box. Good luck with that nice piece.

The monthly flea / antique show I attend here in Ohio, is a nice show set up at the fairgrounds out in the country. I've always found interesting stuff there. There's an old guy who has set up for years at the show. Almost his entire table consists of old coins and I usually don't give his table much of a look since I'm not into coin collecting. This time I did a fraction of a second look at his table and noticed he had that S&W under glass so I stopped and backed up. I'm glad I did. I don't know much about the Victory's but it looked like a solid gun, great bore and with no "busy" stamps in the metal. I figured any quality manufactured gun is worth at least $350.
I hit the Ohio Gun Collectors show this weekend and as one might expect at any gunshow held this year, ammo offerings were not a pretty sight. Crowd was down but prices were NOT down.
But I did pick up a box of nickle cased Western 38 s&w for $20 and a box of Remington same caliber for $26. That's all I saw in that caliber for less than $40 at the show.
On the way home, I stopped at a gun shop local to me and picked up 3 more boxes of Fiocchi 38 s&w at $30 a box after tax and another Remington box at $33 a box. That may be all I need for now based on the shooting I figure I'll do with that revolver through the winter months. Of course if I see more of that ammo for sale anywhere in the 20 range or less, I'll pick it up!

K- as I said in my PEM, PPU seems to be about $20.00 when found around here.

I have to confess - I DID find an import mark on the pistol, after ONLY having it for a year! haha! A small one line ' NA Co ' (Navy Arms I presume) mark behind the front sight underneath. I can't quite figure how I missed that. After finding that mark, I relooked over the pistol and can confidently say there are no other non-S&W marks on the pistol.
Based on that importer mark, can anyone guess what part of the world this pistol would have come from?
Thanks! Kim
