Default Source of parts for 1st Mod. .32 HE?

I bought a .32 HE 1st Model cheap on Guns International. The front sight and pin are missing, and the knob on the front of the ejector rod. I'd like to find those parts. Plus, I think someone swapped out the hammer for a later version. Does anyone know a source for any of these parts?

Try Jack First. I bought parts for a 1899 Military there in the past.

Ejector rod knob
Check the rod size first. There is also a smaller knob for a smaller rod. However, it is sold out on Numrich. You may either have to fabricate your own front sight or hope Jack First has them. Pins are easy to make from drill bit shanks.

: head slap! I went back and reread your post and you have a first model. The knob I referenced above is for a later hand ejector. Jack first may have the knurled end knob you're looking for. They're pretty hard to find.

I should have said--I've already checked Jack First and Numrich & neither has the parts I need. I hate to do it, but I may just buy an old beat up gun for parts.

That will work if you can find one. Someone on here oh, I can't remember who, had some of the knurled ends machined for him but I believe they were for the 38. Perhaps someone that collects these guns can say if the knurled ends fits on both the 32 and 38 ejector rods. I suspect not.

Sam is a true gentleman and craftsman. He willingly recreated the knobs when I asked him. Actually bought an 1896 so he could get the knobs exactly right!

Numrich has parts for the 1896 but they're mis catergorized in their index. I'll send you a link to them.

Jack 1st has some parts but very expensive and does have the front sight you need. Although he has the knobs, no screws, the expensive part.

1896 parts at Numrich:

Smith & Wesson Model 32 Hand Eject Parts | Numrich Gun Parts

I bought their last 1896 hammer last year but I have a correct hammer for you that just needs a hammer nose (firing pin). Maybe your incorrect replacement hammer has the correct firing pin in it because it's unique to the 1895 and required to make the gun function.

If a firing pin is needed, it's shown here for $13.50 ($38 at Jack 1st):

Mr. Simmons makes the screws too. Just ask him.
A dab of blue Locktite is a good idea when you install it.

I probably have a front sight that will work. I'll look tomorrow.
You use a drill bit shank to make the pin.
As for the hammer, I'm pretty sure they aren't interchangeable with later models. The 1896 was the only hand ejector model that had the cylinder lock de-activated by the hammer. 1903 hammers don't have the little nub on top to unlock the cylinder.
There were two different hammer thumb spur styles used on the 1896.

The firing pin has the nub, so with the 1896 firing pin, later hammers will work.

Yes, there was a short and long hammer spur; either works in any version of the model 1896.

You're right! I forgot the 'nub' is part of the firing pin and not part of the hammer.
I have a spare early 1903 hammer with chafing bushings in my stash. I guess with a firing pin change, it would work in an 1896?

Thanks to everyone for the advice, help, and comments. This is a great community! I have decided to buy a spare gun that I can take parts off of. I found one that was originally nickel plated but is in bad shape externally. I plan to sell the internal parts I don't need, plus the grip plates. I may consider the possibility of removing the nickel so I can sell some of the external parts. It will be a learning experience. And what else have I got to do right now anyway?
