Nickel plated Regulation Police
I find no mention in my S&W book as to the nickel plating of the Regulation Police. I know that one could get one by special ordering, but were they ever offered as a nickel gun in the catalogue? One for sale on the Net. Big Larry

Apparently so, as the SCSW says they came in blue or nickel. Don't see a nickel one every day, though.

AFAIK they were available as a regular production item. Most guesses are about 10% of any model were in nickel. I have seen a couple.

I have a 32 Regulation Police that definitely has a factory nickel finish. I assume that the 38 RP was also available with nickel plate.

About half of my RP's are nickel. The only one that I've never seen in nickel is the Target model.

Thanks all. I have two real nice blued RP's, but without any docs, I would not put out $$$ for one in nickel. $100 to find out is a bit much, but also a little late after the fact. Big Larry

Funny you should mention that
I was just poking around a bit and came across this old thread:
32 Regulation Police you don't see every day (nickel short-barrel target)-->LETTERED!

Oddly enough, I seem to see more nickel RPs than blued ones. Of course I’m working off my own somewhat limited experience, but that’s What I’ve observed. For shooter grade guns, I like a well worn blue gun better than a nickel example with peeling or missing patches.

My experience has been the same. My Grandfather's RP from 1924 and the holster he carried it in...

NICE by the way
I also have a pair chambered in .38 S&W . Not as fine as yours but I still shoot and like them. Ca.1920/1921 or there abouts. Again, love those 32 Longs.

Could be because the survivability is higher among the nickel plated guns.
