Chief Special Hammerless
I'm calling this one : The Crooked Politician
Only because it's been in somebodies pocket since 1953.
Edit-
This is a birthday gift that I've been waiting for. Both of us were spit out in 1953. Low 21XX serial number.
The blueing has most all soaked in by now. Gray like me.
Not a collector's piece due to the finish wear. This one has been in the harness pulling pocket duty.

Yes it's a 4 screw with numbered high horn grips. The pin was missing but after reading all of the old posts here on the S&W forum I felt empowered to take matters into my own hands and fabricate one.
I had a pair of Centennial pearl grips and adapter so the stock grips are set aside.

The last digit of the serial number has been photo shopped out.

IMHO pocket polish is way ahead of truck glove box polish. Love shines. Good show OM.

That's good honest wear! Somebody took very good care of her, while carrying her daily! Got to appreciate that.
Very nice Christmas present.
MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPEY NEW YEAR!

I like it. Looks like it is ready for another 67 years worth of pocket duty and still be ready when called upon. Well I would take it apart and check for built up pocket lint and old oil, but nothing that some occasional TLC won't take care of.

Purddy nonetheless and has some stories to go along with it. She's a good one, congrats!

That’s my favorite kind of gun. True, honest wear.

I hope this is not too far off topic, but I bought a Bersa 22 off a friend. It was old and he'd had it for decades. Dang thing was a jam-o-matic. One day I took it to the range and shot the heck out of it. Now it functions everything, even Thunderbolts.
The gun had never been broken in, even though the outside had wear. It's become my favorite range toy.
The guy that had it shot part of a box of Vipers through it then didn't shoot it anymore because it was too loud. He was in a wheelchair and he carried the Bersa in his car.

I put 20 rounds down range to confirm POA/POI. It chewed the bull out at 10 yards.
I'm very pleased with it.
I'm glad you got the Bersa sorted out. It sounds like it just needed a little TLC.
My pal has a range on his ranch where we shoot. Every time I go over there he brings out some old pistol that he has owned decades. Never the same one, always something different.
He never cleans these pistols, ever. Last trip he brought his "bathroom" revolver. An old .32 hand ejector. It looked like there was fur growing on the face of the cylinder.
He snatched my coke can off the picnic table and tossed it in the air. He put two rounds through it before it hit the ground then walked it down range with the last four shots....He is 85 years old.
