Prewar 4" HD with Keith Brown Ropers!
I thought we needed some New Years cheer and what better way than to showcase Keith Brown's-the Michelangelo of wood, magnificent Roper style grips. I just love Keith's work and an HD looks 1000% better wearing a pair of his stocks. The HD shown is my shooter 4" pre war. So here we go:

Enjoy!

Some crazy nice grips for a shooter!!
Be careful making it too nice, they end up in the non-shooting section of the safe and a new "shooter" ends up in its place. Then the ugly cycle of collection continues!

I am simply overwhelmed. That wood is so far over the top, it’s just unbelievable. Execution of the actual grip making is simply the best there is. Only two things could make them any better; first if they were for a K frame and second if they were mine!

I already have a set of the KB Ropers (outstanding work). Still searching for the nice prewar HD to pair them up with. That'll complete one of my bucket list wants!

Sorry but my Keith Brown Ropers aren’t mounted on pre-war Heavy Dutys, but close. English walnut on K-22 Outdoorsman which shipped in 1935 and Redheart on 38/44 Outdoorsman shipped in 1936.

Hard to pick a favorite between the 4 and 5 inch barrels on fixed sight pre-war N frames, but the bigger holes on CptCurls 44 3rd model really peg my fun meter!

Happy New Year Bill!!
I guess great minds think alike, at least somewhat.
I also went with a 38-44 and a vintage set of KB's, but I chose an Outdoorsman instead.

Bill, you said that’s a shooter, I shoot this .41 Magnum with Keith’s grips on it. They shoot as good as they look which is saying something.
The older I get the more willing I am to use things and not just store them away.
Regards,
turnerriver

KB Birds-eye Maple Grips
Switching to smaller frame guns, here are two examples of KB's smooth grips on .38 early K-frames.
The 4" revolver is a Model of 1899, with factory target sights. 1899's were only made in round-butt configuration.
The 6 1/2" is an factory-engraved presentation piece, presented to Charles C Call on his 25th anniversary with the factory. The darker areas in the flutes are whats left of the original gold plating on the cylinder. His CCC monogam is engraved on the left side of the gun, in the region of the frame knuckle. The presentation date is engraved on the left side of the barrel, towards the muzzle.
Regards, Mike Priwer

I love the Ropers on that pre-war 38/44! ... and all the rest that were posted, with a special shout out to Mike's birdseye maples!
Here's Keith's work on another set of Outdoorsmans (the set on the 38/44 came to me via 1Aspenhill - thanks Bill):

Nice grips here, love Keith’s work. These are made from spalted maple from the same piece of wood. Joe Cebul has the only other set made with the same piece. They are on a 5” model 27, the other set are K frame. Larry

Thanks for the nice comment.
However, it's a First Model (Triple Lock), not a 3rd model.

Not a Heavy Duty, but it wears my only set of KB's. A Outdoorsman from about 1934.
