S&W 38 Terrier Ammo
Hello: New to the Forum - thanks for including. I have inherited my uncle's 38 Terrier from the NJ State Police in great condition (1960 I believe). I wanted to know what ammunition to buy for this beauty. Local gun shop says "antique" ammo; I had thought 38 S & W would work. New to this revolver so any of your insight would be greatly appreciated! Thank you and have a great day! Greg

Just remember, .38 S&W is not the same as .38 S&W Special.

Send Sam an email over at SG Ammo. He has it in stock but doesn't list it online due to the amount of returns from people confusing it with 38 Special. $19 a box or so.

Now if you reload.. 148 grain Hollow base wadcutters (.357 dia.) work very well. Just a bit of bullseye powder and you have a real good load to practice with. Normally the .38 S&W uses .361 dia. but he hollow base upsets and fills the rifling.
