Default Revolver Identification

Hi All! New member here. I am trying to identify an older revolver that I have. It is a 22 LR, 6 shot, 6 inch barrel, 5 screw. There is no model number just the assembly number stamped inside the hinge of the cylinder. The serial number, on the bottom of the grip, I had to remove the grip to see it, matches the SN on the cylinder and is 655307. I would like to know the model, age and possible value. I did buy the Standard Catalog of® Smith & Wesson but still could not figure it out.

Thanks in advance for all info!

Welcome aboard!
It appears to be a K-22 Outdoorsman from the mid-1930’s. Those are the wrong stocks/grips, but it’s a great gun.
Congratulations!

These pictures are microscopic, but I figure $900 for a quick sale. There were about 19,000 pre-WWII K-22s so they're not rare. But almost every S&W fan wants one, so there's that. I am lucky to have a 1st year gun (1931).

Is there any peening (metal gouging) on the back of the cylinder? That's the first place a savvy buyer will look to argue down the price. Besides the incorrect grips. The originals are long gone, and they're also serial matched, so there's no way to make it completely factory original again. I can't really tell what's on there now as the pics are just tiny for me.

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! The K-22 Outsdoorsman is a K frame revolver. You can read about it in the SCSW, 4th Ed. on page 135.

Thanks All! I will try to send better pics. The edition I bought SW Standard Catalog, was the 3rd but that should cover this gun . I will look and post better pics of the back of the cylinder. I had thought hat the grips were changed but they feel great when shooting. I was on the fence about selling but will probably keep this to hand down

HI All, Thanks again for the info. Here are better pics, I think.... hkcavalier, I don't think there is any peening on the back of the cylinder, but it could use a good cleaning.
