Default Trying to date a couple of revolvers

I'm not interested in their value, just trying to date them.

1. A Hand Ejector, 32-20, serial number 136872. This one has been back to the factory (I think for refinishing) with a date of 3/62 under the left grip and a star stamped at the back of the frame, also under the left grip. There is a star also stamped on the barrel flat close to the frame.

2. A Victory model, serial V9341. Unfortunately Bubba got ahold of this one. The barrel was shortened to 2", blued (fairly nice job), modern magnas. No photo of this one.

I have SN 138956 which I show as 1928. Others may show ship dates closer to your SN. Looks nice enough to be a factory refinish. Is there a B on the barrel flat? Someone will be along with information on your Victory.

136670 shipped in June, 1927. But ship dates on the .32-20 can be all over the map in the 1920s.

V with four digits is going to be from 1942. Victory experts can probably narrow that down a bit.

4th edition shows 32-20 hand ejectors from 65701-144684 as 1915-1940. Kind of a long split, but I am guessing you are in the last few years. Clearly the V is pretty early as it is under 10,000. There were over 800,00 made between 1942-1945.

As Jack says, 32-20 ship dates are all over the map. S&W quit making them around 1930 and continued to trickle them out until 1940. About the only way to get a confirmed ship date is to get an historian's letter of authenticity.
