M & P 1902 First Change?
I have seen this item for sale. The owner IDs it as a1902 First change. I understand that it is his property and he can call it whatever he chooses and I'm certainly only a novice but It looks like a 38/44. Just curious what it actually is, not trying to be some know it all. Thank you.

Yep. Prewar Heavy Duty. I expect it is from the mid- to late-1930s. Stocks are correct.

Two of my Heavy Dutys were listed and purchased as "Model 10s". That looks like a real nice one.

It's perfectly alright to be a "know it all"---especially if you're right. Actually, it wouldn't hurt to make note of times when when you're right----might come in handy when you're not so right---and somebody's keeping score.

NO HE CANNOT! One simple obligation for anyone selling a firearm on the net is that they take the time to identify what they are selling!!!!!

Sure he can. I’ve gotten quite a few deals from improperly described items.

Is that a rule? I’m pretty confident that all sellers are not professionally adequate to describe what they are selling.
I don’t buy on the net but in the 15 years here on the Forum I’ve enjoyed reading all the amazing purchases that have come from incorrect descriptions.
Please explain this travesty that you’ve experienced !!!!!!!!

It is simple courtesy and respect to potential buyers that should drive any and all sellers to determine what they are selling before they post it. Don't care if someone gets a good deal or not. It drove me especially crazy when I used to contact the seller of a misidentified firearm to let them know what they are selling and either get a "none of your business" attitude or not any reply at all.
There is no rule, but rather the application of a little common sense. You would be amazed at how many gun shops misidentify guns.

And again, I will point out....many gun shops “are not professionally adequate to describe what they are selling”.
Just because they have an FFL (or not) doesn’t mean they know squat about their merchandise.
I’m sorry you’ve had a bad experience and the sellers (you mentioned) that ignored you,
But I like others will continue to enjoy the unprofessional sellers and amazing discoveries
I can’t wait to read of one of my Friends here on the Forum scoring a BIN RM that was listed as a pre 28!!

Also love when I see it in a gun shop as well!
I suspect the people who label them wrong in a shop are the same people who do it online as well.
